Join Johnny at the Royal Kona Resort this weekend for the 9th Annual Don the Beachcomber Mai Tai Festival.
He will kick off the weekend with a “Pre-show” Friday night from 8:00 – 10:00 at Don’s Mai Tai Bar.
Saturday Johnny will join Henry Kapono and the Duke’s Band for a poolside party from 2:30 – 4:00pm.
Festival Highlights include:
Mai Tai Marketplace: Shop for crafts and island treats from local artisans and merchants from 11:00am – 4:00pm
Battle of the BBQ: Taste and vote for Hawaii’s best barbecue from 11am-2pm
Pool Party: Listen to live music with Henry Kapono, Johnny Valentine and the Duke’s Band by the pool from 2:30pm – 4:00pm
Mai Tai Mix-off: From 4:30pm – 7:30pm watch bartenders from around the world vie for the title of World’s Best Mai Tai and cash prizes. First place winner receives $10,000, second place winner receives $5,000, and third place winner receives $2,500.
Don Ho will be honored at the International Marketplace with a six foot four inch statue, unveiled on his 87th birthday.
The bronze sculpture,created by Honolulu artist Kim Duffett, commemorates Ho’ s tremendous contributions to Hawaiian music, history and culture.
